By modestly depicting his partner during frequent trips to Japan, the photographer transcends the fineness of the ordinary.

Léo Berne has two loves: Japan, and the magnetic Mathilde Warnier. This dual passion inspires him to produce trivial, fascinating, and often sensual images, which he posts on his Instagram account.

Delicate intimacy

By modestly depicting his partner in touching portraits, the author of For the Aliens (a photographic guide to human civilisation aimed at extraterrestrials) again seeks to transcend the fineness of the ordinary.

In 2019 and 2020, the photographer developed a two-part exhibition at Galerie &co119 in Paris: From Dawn to Dusk and From Dusk to Dawn, compilations of his photographs captured on film around the world, particularly in Japan. He also made an advertising campaign for the Japanese cosmetics brand Shu Uemura.
