Located on a calm back street, a stone’s throw from the Nanzenji temple in Kyoto, in a charming corner of the city, Blue Bottle Coffee occupies the two floors of a recently renovated 195 m² space. The project was overseen by architect Jo Nagasaki who created a perfected space, standing out most notably for its wood-lined interior.

The modern ambiance of the café reinforces the elegance of Japanese architectural heritage attributed to the Machiyas. The large bay windows open the space up, with an outside courtyard-cum-terrace and a new flooring composed of natural stones. Both nature and tradition are respected. If the coffee is half as good, it’s bound to be a success.
