Love through the Lens of Solitude

Jörgen Axelvall’s exhibition, “KÄR / LEK,” is currently being held in Shinjuku at the KEN NAKAHASHI gallery.

Axelvall was born in Sweden in 1972. In 2011, he moved his base of operations to Tokyo and has been an internationally acclaimed photographer. In 2013, he won the New Exposure Photography Competition cosponsored by VOGUE magazine and Bottega Veneta.

“The camera is a way for me to love, understand, and know myself and those around me more deeply,” says Axelvall. “KÄR / LEK” means “Love / Play” in Old Swedish. The Exhibition includes many photographs of friends and flowers taken over the years in Tokyo, which he considers his life’s work. There is a purity to the solitude he depicts through his soft focus polaroids of times of relaxation and leisure.

Take this opportunity to see Axelvall’s work, on display until May 5th at the KEN NAKAHASHI.
