Keiichi Tanaami, the King of Pop Art
In an exhibition held in Kyoto in 2018, the artist known for his colourful universe produced a series of pieces based on memories.
Design by Keiichi Tanaami.
He needs no introduction. Through animation, screen printing, comic book illustration, collage, experimental films, painting and sculpture, Keiichi Tanaami has been working in Pop Art since the 1960s.
An exhibition entitled Keiichi Tanaami Dialogue, which ran from 28 August until 23 October 2018 at Kyoto-ddd-Gallery, brought together twenty of his previously unseen works. The multidisciplinary artist, born in Tokyo in 1936, focused on transcribing passages of his life, creating exclusively from his own memories. This marks the ideal opportunity to delve back into his protean body of work.
Keiichi Tanaami’s work can be viewed on his website.
