Over the course of more than 400 years, the city of Takaoka, in the heart of Toyama Prefecture, has built up a reputation for excellence in working with copper, tin, and brass. The artisans at the Nousaku studio are not content to simply preserve traditions, but also make it their daily task to take on new technical challenges and propel themselves into the future of the discipline.

Thus, the KAGO series (kago is Japanese for ‘basket’) features objects like containers and dish carriers in unusual shapes, perhaps inspired by the American-Japanese film franchise Transformers.

In the 1700s, Lavoisier declared that ‘Everything is transformed.’ Nousaku has taken the opportunity to reintroduce this principle to tableware.
