Japanese Designer Yasuhiro Mihara is Riding High
Initially a shoe designer, the creator now develops entire collections of garments with a vision of fashion that's full of humour.

Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO
A graduate of Tama Art University, Yasuhiro Mihara began his career designing shoes. This brought him such joy that he decided to launch himself in the ready-to-wear market, creating his own brand, Maison Mihara Yasuhiro.
‘A fusion of the sublime and the amusing’
Positioning himself in the ‘luxury’ and ‘designer’ sector, his garments are mostly sold in Asia, the UK and the United States, where the brand has over 70 distributors. In France, L’Éclaireur and Le Printemps stock his pieces. His spring-summer 2019 collection was, he states, ‘conceived to be the fruit of a fusion of the sublime and the amusing, with a thread of humour running through it’.
His denim jackets college-style shirts, and baseball cardigans are split in half and always have four sleeves. The designer takes great pleasure in all kinds of details that add the perfect twist to his garments: the drawstrings on the sweaters and tracksuit bottoms are transformed into metres of seam tape, and the zips are giant. Even the garment care tags are sometimes sewn onto the clothes here and there.
More information on Maison Mihara Yasuhiro can be found on the brand’s website.
