The Kungyokudo boutique in Tokyo is located in the Kitte building, which occupies the site of the capital’s former central post office, refurbished in 2013 by Kengo Kuma, which has now become a high-end, designer shopping mall.
Incense and aromatherapy
The space is modern and elegant, far from the classic style of this type of boutique, to attract a new, younger clientele who are interested in design. Inside you’ll find a mixture of traditional incense as well as contemporary aromatherapy products such as oils, soaps, and candles. The boutique also has a studio where visitors to the store can create small, traditional perfumed sacks called nioi bukuro. It’s the ultimate educational experience in incense.
More information about Kungyokudo can be found on its website.
Address: 100-7004 Tokyo, Chiyoda City, Marunouchi, 2 Chome−7−2 4階 KITTE.
