BODYSONG., the Nostalgia of Streetwear
Designer Shunsuke Aoki draws inspiration from his travels and his memories of 1990s Japan, which he translates into his fashion.

Deliciously formless and resolutely oversized, the garments made by Shunsuke Aoki, aka BODYSONG., throw Japan’s fashionistas right back to the heart of the 1990s (often described as the ‘lost decade’, a period marked by an economic recession that would last until the early 2000s), when the founder of the brand grew up.
Improvised designs
His main source of inspiration is his travels. ‘I take photos to document what I like, and when I get home I begin to create sketches of everything I saw’, explains the designer who attaches great importance to improvisation.
In a nod to the Beastie Boys’ ‘Body Movin’’, since its inception in 2010 BODYSONG. has embodied a hip-hop-influenced view of fashion that refuses to take itself seriously.
The latest BODYSONG. collections can be found on the brand’s website and on its Instagram account.
