Takeyuki Nameura Aims High at Montée
This small restaurant located in Paris' 14th arrondissement offers French haute cuisine, imported from Japan.

Takeyuki Nameura began his culinary career in Kobe and Osaka. After training in the south of France, he returned to Kobe in 2006, where he opened his own restaurant which he named Montée (French for ‘rise’) in a nod to the steep street on which the establishment was located.
Healthy and innovative cuisine
Upon his return to France in 2016, Takayuki Nameura transposed Montée to Paris’ fourteenth arrondissement. The restaurant is anonymous (there is no signage to tell passers-by where it is) and minimalist. The essential is that, in this small space, the French cuisine is composed of carefully selected, seasonal ingredients. Takayuki Nameura runs the show alone and makes it his mission to produce healthy, innovative cuisine.
The restaurant has been a success, far beyond the Japanese chef’s wildest dreams. The small Montparnasse restaurant has made it big (symbolically of course, as no one has pushed the walls) and received its first Michelin star in 2018. This recognition is well-deserved for such inspired (and inspiring) perseverance.
