The large glass windows of the luxury train, which made its maiden voyage on 1 May 2017, offer a breath-taking view of Japan away from the tourist trail. This train, designed by Ken Okuyama who is also responsible for the curved shape of the famous Shinkansen, has 17 private suites, a piano bar and a fine dining restaurant where each dish reflects the regions the passengers travel through on the trip. This culinary voyage is meticulously directed by Katsuhiro Nakamura, the first Japanese chef to receive a Michelin star.
All this luxury comes at a price, at over €8,000 a ticket, but you have to get hold of one first. All those wishing to experience it have to fill in an application and then wait for the draw to be made to see if they will be lucky enough to have the chance to travel and stay on board this magnificent rolling hotel.
