Italian photographer Alex Liverani discovered Japan during a pilgrimage. The name of his book, DANGO, comes from a popular Japanese dessert made up of three dumplings in pink, white, and green, served on a wooden skewer. This edible assemblage inspired Alex Liverani, who decided to create his own colourful photographic triptych of Japan.
Initially taken with no underlying theme, his photographs are connected by a colour or a similar shape. Alex Liverani achieves the difficult feat of gathering together images that are opposed in all ways by finding some form of harmony between three photographs of scenes of everyday life in Japan. These compilations can be found in his book, to be consumed much like a dango, without moderation.
