The brand is an institution in the world of Japanese luxury but less well known than its peers outside of Japan.

Founded in 2010 by Maiko Kurogouchi, a graduate of Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo who spent three years working alongside Issey Miyake before striking out on her own, Mame Kurogouchi incarnates femininity and daring through shapes that combine timeless design and traditional craftsmanship.

In September 2018, the Japanese designer, born in Nagano in 1985, presented her new ready-to-wear collection in Paris. This was an opportunity to get a closer look at her ultra-technical garments and her remarkable attention to detail. The designer even asked surgeons to help her with some of her creations, namely her PVC bags which represent her signature piece. Behind each garment lies a personal story, memories of childhood or travels. Mame Kurogouchi is more than just a brand; it is an attitude and a desire to combine femininity and fashion with art, culture and tradition.
