Although he moved to France over 30 years ago, Akihiro Horikoshi’s tiny, humbly decorated French restaurant in the 7th arrondissement immerses diners in a quintessentially Japanese universe.
Crispy red mullet with carrots and cumin and sole with salsify
The restaurant has 16 seats and just one employee, who is responsible for the service. The chef, who worked at the three-Michelin-star gourmet temple L’Ambroisie for nearly twenty years, specialises in classic French cuisine centred on superior-quality fish and seafood.
Whether crispy red mullet with carrots and cumin or sole with salsify and meat jus, the menu changes daily and everything is cooked to order. The sauces are light and the cooking of the seafood is always spot on (or ‘cooked just right’, according to chef Aki).
Akihiro Horikoshi is known for being a very private person, but those who become regular clients will enjoy a preferential relationship whereby they can pre-order special dishes with caviar or truffles, and even his versions of l’Ambroisie classics.
More information about La table d’Aki can be found on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
