In Sprawling Dubai, This Restaurant is a Small Gem

The ultimate place to be in Dubai is currently a Japanese nine-seat restaurant, located on the 4th floor of Bulgari Resort. At Hoseki, diners can indulge in lunch or dinner leaning on an L-shaped bar facing the Dubai skyline, all in a minimalist setting designed to avoid all distraction from the views and above all the dishes, prepared before their eyes by chef Masahiro Sugiyama.

In Japan, such a small space is commonplace, but in this city of excess, home to the world’s tallest and the highest hotel in the world, the Hoseki restaurant serves as an exception. Here, there is no fixed menu: the chef studies the preferences of each guest and composes dishes according to the day’s market finds, following the tradition of omakase (which literally means ‘I leave it to you’ in Japanese). The experience is popular, so you have to reserve well in advance. For those with more than 8 friends, an alternative solution exists; for groups, a private room can accommodate up to 12 people.
